These are the aims of our Nursery School and Day Care provision; this is our commitment to providing the very best for our children and families.
Children’s earliest experiences have a profound influence on their learning and development and later achievement. At Grosvenor we aim to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to develop, achieve and progress in a safe and secure environment. We are committed to the nurturing and education of the whole child in the following ways:
- We will provide a warm, welcoming, friendly environment for children, families, staff and visitors
- We will provide a safe, secure and happy environment for our children which will accommodate and encourage independence so that they have the freedom to make discoveries, explore new experiences and enjoy their learning
- We will provide a broad, balanced and well-planned curriculum in which each child will be considered individually, laying the foundations for their future learning and academic success in the primary phase – so that they are ‘school ready’. We want them to be healthy, to think for themselves, build strong self-esteem and become more independent
- We will promote and enhance the personal, social, emotional cultural, intellectual and physical development of our children and by doing so we will help them to develop a good understanding of what is right and wrong, what is healthy and an enjoyment of physical exercise
- We will develop the communication and literacy skills of all children so that they may influence and control the environment around them and develop confidence in the use of language and the written word
- With the effective implementation of the EYFS and the statutory framework, we will understand and support children’s learning and development on a ‘moment to moment’ and a ‘day to day’ basis
- Through observing each child’s interests, as well as observing groups of children, we will respond to their interactions with new activities and changes to the environment that will help them learn
- On-going assessment and tracking of our children’s development and learning will enable us to support their progress and plan for their next steps in learning
- We will work closely with parents in the knowledge that they are their children’s first educators so that they may work with them on their developmental journey
- We will guide and support our parents and families so that they are able to provide the care and early learning that their children need.
- We will create a rewarding environment for staff where they are valued as members of the Grosvenor team. Professional development will be encouraged through leadership, reflective practice, training and communication
- We will share good practice through providing training for other providers and students
- We will create links with local schools and providers to share knowledge and good practice and ease children’s transition across the phases
- We will promote a friendly, happy supportive partnership, presenting an ‘open door’ policy to staff, parents, professional agencies, the local community, visitors and Governors of our school
- We will identify children with additional needs at the earliest opportunity so that their needs may be met and families supported
- We will encourage everyone in our school to value and respect others as individuals, regardless of colour, origin, faith, gender, age, sexual orientation or additional need
- We will encourage all of our children to feel part of the ‘whole school community’ and learn to contribute positively to it
- We will maintain high quality provision in all aspects of care, learning, resources and the environment
